Types of cosmetics

On the shelves of drugstores or online – no matter where you shop, the types of cosmetics available are plentiful. How are they different? Which are the best? In what order should they be applied? One thing at a time:

Cream

It forms the basis of facial care. This is the broadest group – it can be moisturizing, nourishing, lubricating, protective or regulating. They differ because of their consistency – the concentration of active ingredients – they can be gentle or very intense.

Balm

The lotions are characterized by low viscosity – they are quickly absorbed. Their main purpose is to fill in the gaps in our skin’s hydrolipid barrier. More common are lotions dedicated to body care – these are not allowed to be used on the face! They can be too “heavy”, which can cause negative effects (pimples, clogged pores, etc.).

Butter, oil

Butters and oils are the oiliest form of cosmetics, usually dedicated to very dry skin. Butters, such as Sacha Butter, are in solid form, resembling the consistency of ordinary butter. However, under the influence of our body temperature, when we apply the butter with our hands, it turns into an oil. They are dedicated to very dry or dry skin, but are also praised by people with normal and oily skin. They do not have a “clogging” effect. On the other hand, we advise against using it daily. Every day our skin produces lipids responsible for lubrication – hydration. When we lubricate the skin with a butter or oil, the skin “reads the information”: it is quite oily, there is no need to produce lipids.

Butters and oils are advisable most in winter, when the skin is dry and necessarily needs the support of oily preparations. Butters and oils form a barrier on the skin that supports the natural hydrolipidic barrier – helping to protect the skin from external factors, but also from water loss.

Serum, essence

The serum is designed to provide the skin with concentrated active ingredients. It works much stronger than creams, because that is its essence – it strengthens and intensifies care. The consistency of the serum is always light, liquid or gel. Due to the high concentration of active ingredients, the serum can be used every second or even every third day – this also distinguishes it from a cream. This will not weaken the effects of its use. The serum should be applied before the cream because it is lighter. We recommend waiting about 10-15 minutes between the serum and the cream.

The following is a treatment suggestion for you – in the right order – for those with skin in need of nourishment, color improvement and rejuvenation.

Morning

  • City essence – a serum in the form of a mist. Not only does it contain minerals that are valuable to the skin, but it also moisturizes, nourishes and enhances the action of active ingredients contained in cosmetics used later.
  • C-flush serum – a serum with vitamin C, or a light boost for the skin first thing in the morning. It has a nourishing, anti-wrinkle effect and provides antioxidant protection.
  • City SUN – which is a light, moisturizing cream designed for people who are conscious and live fast. It provides protection against UVA and UVB, but also against blue light emitted by the screens of electrical appliances.

Evening

  • City essence – a serum in the form of a mist. Not only does it contain minerals that are valuable to the skin, but it also moisturizes, nourishes and enhances the action of active ingredients contained in cosmetics used later.
  • City eye cream – an eye cream that combines protective, moisturizing, nourishing, anti-wrinkle and evening out skin tone. Due to the sensitivity of the skin under the eyes, we remind you: eye creams are gently patted in, not lubricated.
  • Novo 8% – night cream with 8% concentration of glycolic acid. It has an anti-wrinkle effect and improves skin density. The acid stimulates microcellular renewal, resulting in a rejuvenated, refreshed appearance.
  • Retino – a dedicated night cream with retinol, one of the best active ingredients used in anti-aging treatments.
